I just bought some new push-up bars a few days ago. The set I was using has a narrow base and I would roll them over and twist my wrist - very dangerous, could easily sprain or worse. Let that be a tip for you if you buy push-up bars - go for a wide base.
My kids spotted them and immediately started trying to use them. Being 5 and 8 year old girls, they had a little trouble. I found a video over at eDiets showing how to do bent-knee pushups, which is a great way for beginners to start out.
